On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Apply critically, research-informed and theoretical knowledge in social work practice and decision-making;
  2. Engage in practice that draws on various social work models and methods of practice and follows professional and ethical standards and protocols;
  3. Practise social work that is inclusive of the needs of indigenous peoples and diverse communities within the Pacific region and globally;
  4. Engage in practice, which promotes social change, and social and ecological justice, gender equity, and empowers individuals, families, groups and communities;
  5. Engage critically and reflectively in practice that is grounded in policies that are relevant to particular fields of practice;
  6. Evaluate organisational management, governance structures, and communication systems and processes relating to social and community work practice;
  7. Conduct a research study into identified aspects of social services, fields of practice and policy;
  8. Communicate effectively and appropriately with multiple stakeholders, clients and communities.
