Raising the bar for community work education

Whether you’re delivering a diploma or a higher education course, our accreditation gives students, employers, and government departments confidence that your course meets the standards of the profession.

We accredit education providers who can demonstrate that their community work course meets the expectations of the profession — including structure, content, fieldwork, staffing, and resources. Accredited courses are also required to demonstrate that they go beyond minimum compliance, by ensuring students are provided with appropriate fieldwork placement experience meeting Community Work Australia accreditation requirements.

Obtaining Community Work Australia course accreditation adds an additional layer of quality not covered by regulatory body approval. It shows that your course doesn’t just meet the regulatory requirements — it exceeds them

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between accreditation and endorsement?

Accreditation applies to formal qualifications, such as diploma, bachelor, or master degree level courses. Endorsement applies to professional development programs, like workshops, training or conferences. Both processes assess quality, but accreditation carries broader recognition and reflects a complete education pathway.

How long does the accreditation process take?

Timelines vary depending on your submission and responsiveness to feedback. A complete application may be processed within 12 to 16 weeks. If additional information or adjustments are required, the process may take longer.

What types of courses are eligible for accreditation?

We accredit diploma and higher education qualifications in areas such as community services, youth work, disability, mental health, AOD, counselling and other human services fields. If you’re unsure if your course is eligible, contact us.

Can a course be accredited if it’s new?

Yes. New courses can apply for accreditation, provided there is sufficient evidence of planning, quality, and alignment with industry standards. We’re happy to work with providers to help them prepare for assessment.

Is Community Work Australia accreditation nationally recognised?

Yes. Our accreditation is recognised across Australia as an indicator that a course meets the expectations of the community work profession. It supports graduate recruitment, employer confidence and quality assurance.

Hospitals, schools, and care facilities employ community workers to deliver programs, coordinate services, and ensure individuals have access to the resources they need to thrive.
