What is the ACILA?
The ACILA is an initiative of the Australian Government to address current workforce shortages in the aged care industry. The ACILA streamlines the recruitment of skilled direct care workers from overseas to work in Australia, where appropriately qualified Australians are not available.
Community Work Australia is the skills assessment authority for the occupation Aged or Disabled Carer ANZSCO 423111 in connection with the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement (ACILA).
The purpose of the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement
Employers can use the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement (ACILA) to sponsor overseas workers in the following key direct care occupations:
- Aged or Disabled Carer (ANZSCO 423111) - assessed by Community Work Australia
- Nursing Support Worker (ANZSCO 423312) - assessed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC)
- Personal Care Assistant (ANZSCO 423313) - assessed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC)
Applicants can be nominated through the Labour Agreement streams of the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa and Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa. Employers need to have made recent and genuine attempts to recruit workers from the domestic workforce pool.
