You qualify for membership if you:

  • Are currently enrolled in a Community Work Australia accredited course.
  • Have at least 6 months of your course left
  • Agree to adhere to our Code of Ethics

Create a login to get started and access the membership application form.

Fill out the form

Fill the online form. Applications take between 2-4 weeks to process.

Upload documents

Upload all documentation. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Submit your application. If approved, you will receive 12 months of membership.

Does my student membership automatically change to a professional one when I graduate? 

Once you graduate, you need to apply for a professional membership. Our team can help you with this process. 

How long is the student membership?

All student memberships last for 12 months from the date of approval. After this, you either need to renew your student membership or apply for a professional membership. Read about how to apply for memberships.

What documents do I need to apply?

You need to upload supporting documents with the application form. They must be high-resolution colour scans of original documents. Photos, low-quality, blurry or cropped scans will not be accepted. You can review the complete document checklist here.

What does the student membership cost?

Review the fees and costs for membership applications. 

Does my student membership renew automatically?

No, student memberships don’t renew automatically. We will send you a reminder when your membership is about to lapse so that you can renew it. You can renew a student membership if you have at least 6 months left in your course. 

Is the student membership tax-deductible? 

A student membership with a professional association like Community Work Australia is tax-deductible as long as it is related to your professional training and future employment. For accurate and up-to-date information, read the Australian Taxation Office’s guidelines on tax deductions for professional memberships and accreditations.

Do student members have voting rights?

No, student members do not have voting rights. However, student members are eligible to participate in Community Work Australia’s surveys. 

I am studying overseas. Can I still apply?

Anyone who is currently studying an accredited course in Australia is eligible to apply.
