Diploma of Community Services

Offered by Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association Ltd (VASCAL)

The Diploma of Community Services at VACSAL is offered in two streams, dependent on your desired employment pathway. You can complete a Diploma of Community Services CHC52021 or specialise in Child, Youth and Family Welfare. 

This course/qualification aims to recognise and build on the skills of those who work in roles in community services, case management, social housing, family violence, and child protection as well as many other community focused roles. Students must currently be working in the community services sector and have at least 5 years’ experience working with individuals, families and/or Communities. 

You will gain knowledge and learn about:

  • Working with cultural integrity, in a cultural and social framework
  • Leading wellbeing support and debriefing
  • Healing/protecting child and family wellbeing
  • Advocating and case managing
  • Counselling skills
  • Working with and for the community

Your workplace is an essential element to the delivery of the course as this will make up hours for your placement and learning outcomes.
