Competency Based Supervisor Training

Offered by Clinical Supervision Services

Competency Based Supervisor Training is for allied health professionals, social workers, psychologists (not seeking PsyBA supervisor accreditation), and clinicians working within counselling and/or health care provider roles. Professionals working in mental health, paediatric, child, adolescent, adult and aged care are suited to attend this course. Previous participants have included those working in private practice, community health, hospitals, in-patient units and NGO services.

The training is offered as either a 2-day workshop or a full certificate course:

1. Competency Based Supervision Workshop: 2-day Workshop, providing a Certificate of Completion for 14 CPD hours

2. Certificate of Attainment Course: 51 hour Certificate Course, providing the Certificate of Attainment in Clinical Supervision

1. Competency Based Supervision Workshop

This workshop provides participants with a thorough understanding of the principles and practice of effective clinical supervision. You will learn how to set up and conduct effective and supportive supervision, learn how to give feedback and evaluate supervision incorporating best practice standards and reflective practice. Participants will benefit from the opportunity to discuss case scenarios reviewing ethical challenges and how to manage, support and promote supervisee self-care.

2. Certificate of Attainment in Supervision Course

The aim of this course is to provide a framework for conducting and evaluating effective clinical supervision using a competency-based framework incorporating reflective practice. Participants will develop the necessary skills for setting up a rewarding clinical supervision relationship to enhance supervisee learning and skill development, considering the systemic issues of their workplace/team and client group.
