Working with Children (Micro-Credential)

Offered by Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC)

In this micro-credential you’ll learn how to work effectively with children as your client, which is uniquely rewarding and challenging.

This program will introduce you to important topics and theories related to working with children (aged 2-12) in a therapeutic setting, as well as enrich your own skill set and confidence.

You’ll gain awareness of children's developmental stages, including examining attachment styles and how to develop a child-centric approach to practice. You’ll learn how to work with other stakeholders and how to work with trauma and various health conditions (illness, disability, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, etc).

The course is divided into four parts:

  • Development awareness
  • Working with others/stakeholders, and engaging with families
  • Health conditions
  • Trauma
