Findings from the 2025 Australian Digital Inclusion Index suggest digital inclusion in Australia continues to improve. However, large gaps still remain. Evidence suggests that overall access and digital skills have improved, but about one in five Australians remain excluded or highly excluded.
Key barriers include unaffordable connections, limited skills and uneven access between urban and remote areas. The report highlights the growing importance of digital ability, including engagement with new technologies, and calls for coordinated actions to close the digital divide so all Australians can fully participate online.
