Contribute to a University of Melbourne study exploring how professionals can better support people of Islamic backgrounds who have lost someone to suicide.

The Postvention Support for Suicide Loss Survivors with Islamic Backgrounds: Insights from the Australian Mental Health Workforce study is being conducted by the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Mental Health and Community Wellbeing.

Led by PhD candidate Elahe Derakhshan under the supervision of Dr Karl Andriessen and A/Prof Amy Morgan, the project aims to understand the confidence, knowledge, and preparedness of mental health professionals in supporting Muslim clients bereaved by suicide.

Participants are invited to complete a confidential 10–15-minute online survey about their experiences, training, and perspectives on culturally responsive suicide postvention.

Your insights will inform the development of tailored, culturally appropriate training for professionals, helping improve support for those navigating suicide bereavement in Islamic communities.

By taking part, you will contribute to more inclusive practice, enhance the cultural competence of the sector, and strengthen the wellbeing of both practitioners and the people they serve.
