Join Federation University’s Human Research Ethics Committee
Federation University is inviting expressions of interest for new members to join its Human Research Ethics Committee.
The committee reviews research proposals to ensure they meet the requirements of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. This work helps protect research participants and supports ethical, responsible research practice.
The opportunity will suit people with experience in community work, pastoral care, professional care, consumer advocacy or legal practice.
Applicants should be able to work collaboratively, contribute to committee discussions and bring a broad understanding of ethical practice. Members will need to develop or demonstrate an understanding of human research ethics, including how the National Statement applies to research proposals.
Committee members are appointed for an initial three year term. Meetings are held online, with no campus attendance required, and eligible members receive an honorarium payment for each meeting attended.
The committee meets 11 times per year, with members expected to attend at least eight meetings where possible.
Members are also expected to prepare for meetings, review research proposals, provide feedback and declare any real or perceived conflicts of interest.
